Cotillions
The prerequisite activity for membership consideration in The Palos Verdes Assembly is participation in one of our intermediate school cotillions: Ridgecrest Cotillion, Palos Verdes Intermediate School Cotillion, Miraleste Intermediate School Cotillion, or Bent Cotillion (for private school and home-schooled students in the Palos Verdes area). Students with three years of cotillion experience are considered to be the strongest candidates for membership in The Palos Verdes Assembly, as their continuous involvement prepares them for the Assembly program.
Cotillion is a very popular activity amongst our intermediate school students, and it is a great tradition here on the Peninsula that dates back to the 1960s. The cotillion season is comprised of monthly themed dances that feature music, decorations, and refreshments. Many cotillion dances require semi-formal attire, however, some dances invite students to dress in themed costumes and participate in fun costume competitions, themed activities and even lively dance contests. Instruction is provided for basic dance steps, and students receive an education in social graces. Many of our local cotillions end their year with a Mother/Son - Father/Daughter dance.
